MNHS SCHOOL PROFILE

Marple Newtown is a four-year comprehensive public high school emphasizing college preparation. The high school is accredited by th e Middle Atlantic States Association and by the Pennsylvania Department of Education. There are approximately 1160 students enrolled in grades 9 through 12. The administration and faculty of Marple Newtown High School provides opportunities for students to develop their potential as individuals and as productive citizens of our society. Advanced Placement, Honors and Accelerated courses are offered in all academic areas. The high school also offers a comprehensive Learning and Emotional Support Program for students who require special instruction.

Community

Marple Newtown School District is comprised of Marple and Newtown townships which make up Newtown Square (population 8,750) and Broomall (population 14,440). The district is located 10 miles west of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania just off of Route 3. Newtown Square is the home of SAP, the world’s largest manufacturer of business-related software.

Curriculum

One of the outstanding features of Marple Newtown High School is its academic program. An individual academic program is developed for each student with more than 200 courses offered at varying levels of difficulty. Students must earn 26 credits in order to meet graduation requirements. Nineteen Advanced Placement courses are available in the areas of Biology, Calculus, Chemistry, Computer Science, Economics, English, Environmental Science, Foreign Language, Government, American and European History, Studio Art, Music Theory, Physics and Psychology. Students may also attend the area Technical School. A wide range of athletic and extracurricular activities is provided, offering opportunities for the development of social and organization skills, character, and leadership qualities.
