CONGRATULATIONS TO THE MARPLE NEWTOWN MARSLAND TEAM!

The Marple Newtown MarsLand team from our Seminar 9 class was awarded honorable mention at the National ASA Awards ceremony last night.  Each team member will receive a $50 Amazon gift card and the school will receive $500.  The national contest garnered entries from 58 schools across 49 states with 543 teams. We could not be prouder of MarsLand, and of all of our entries.

The MarsLand team worked on creating sustainable food sources for a human colony on Mars.

On Friday, May 6, Marple Newtown High School junior, Sarah Cornejo won first place in the Delaware County Bar Association’s annual Law Day Essay Contest.  She was recognized at their Annual Ceremony by Court of Common Pleas Judges and by the community.

This year’s essay topic asked students to consider the Constitution and how it has recently been tested in our country or community.  It then challenged students to propose how they would resolve the issue in the “spirit of working towards a more perfect union.”

As a result of her first-place finish in the high school division, Sarah was asked to read her winning essay to the assemblage.  We are very proud of Sarah’s accomplishment!
